S4SSS 2022 Preparation Workshop in full swing

News

For the newly formed organizer team it should be a 1.5h trip from Innsbruck to the University Center of Obergurgl – but it came different: The road to Obergurgl was hit by a massive boulder. Challenging for the region, the boulder is part of an ice-age moraine that got instable already last year and much more material instable material is still on the slope.

Nevertheless, being very friendly welcomed by the Ötztal museum in a seminar room in a building with a >500 year history and Hotel Liesel in Längenfeld, the team finally left the buses behind and bypassed the danger area by a hick and had some great time in the University center.

Due to the motivation of all team members and several very flexible supporters the team achieved already several milestones towards S4SSS 2022!

UPDATE (Tuesday, 20th July, 2021 16:00)

After ups and downs about the infos oft the road-closing we decided to get independent of that and make a short “hikearound” to reach Obergurgl. From the “Sahnestüberl”, what is next to the road barrier a small trail brings you to the “Timmelsjoch” Hochalpenstraße where guys from the University Center of Obergurgl picked us up and brought us back to the Center itself. Not for all of us the hike was so easy in the midday-sun and with 400m in altitude and 3km track length but in the end we were a team, helped each other and reached our goal! After a short regeneration break and a wonderful dinner we had a restart with our preparation workshop now in the right place.

Hiking as workaround to get to Obergurgl due to a rockfall on the street.

It was an unplanned action and of course a special way to get to our final destination but as it was not predictable when the street to Obergurgl will open again. So we decided to bypass this closed street section by hiking from the Sahnestüberl to the Timmelsjoch Street where the guys from the University Center of Obergurgl picked us up and brought us back to the Center itself. Exhausting, hot and partly funny 😉
